Grace and Peace unto you. In today’s meditation we will focus on Romans 12:1-2. Before we begin get into a quiet place. Take a moment right now to invite the Holy Spirit into this meditation with you. Clear the air, by confessing any known areas where you have made a wrong choice or have fallen short. Ask the Lord to forgive you of these sins. Now pray that His Spirit will lead you in this meditation. Pray that God will grant you understanding of His Word. Pray that He will show you how you can apply these promises into your life. Thank Him now for having a open heart to receive His promises for your life today, in Jesus’ name.

Relax and Breathe

Right now close your eyes. Slowly inhale with your breath for five seconds, hold for one second, and exhale slowly for another five seconds. Do this short exercise at least twice to release any tension, clear your mind and prepare for meditation.

Today’s scripture: I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind that by testing you may discern what is good and acceptable and perfect. -Romans 12:1-2, ESV

Sacrificial Living

To become a living sacrifice is parallel to living a virtuous life. It’s not only a lifestyle, but it is apart of our worship to the Lord. Being a living sacrifice is letting go of the things that entangles us with the world. In James 4:4, it says to be friends with the world is to be enemies of God. Holiness is a sacrifice…virtue is a sacrifice. Virtue sets you apart from the world. Virtue looks different, acts different, and even talks different. What the world says Yes to, virtue says No. The world promotes what is contrary to the Word of God. Because of our fallen state, it can even be things that we naturally gravitate to. However, once we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord, we are commanded to lay those things down. In Christ, we become new creatures that are adopted into the family of The Most High. No longer, called children of darkness but children of the Light.

As stated in Romans 12:2, we are told not to be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewal of our minds. Our minds have been stained by worldly influence. When we allow God’s Word to purify our minds, it is only then we can discern what is good, acceptable, and perfect.

Self Application

Reflect and write. What are some things you need to sacrifice to strengthen your relationship with Jesus? What are some worldly behaviors that you posses that needs to be crucified? Ask God to give you the strength to do away with these things in your life.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, please help me to be a living sacrifice for you. Give me the strength to crucify the things of the flesh and to take up my cross as you did. Jesus, help me to become the light right where I am. May I continue to walk in the Light and not into darkness. I thank you Lord for helping me along this journey with you. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Wow God is good I actually have been mediating on this scripture daily. There’s a shift in the atmosphere when we choose to surrender our body to the Lord
We feel more at peace. We also need to sacrifice our time rather than being on social media or watching tv to dig deep into the Lord
